The #13 Dry-Me-Out, King of Wraps Mini Stock hit the track this past Saturday night with driver Steve White finally getting his chance at that first race. Steve started 4th in the qualifying race and got shuffled back on a bobbled start by the leaders. He battled back and finished back in 4th.
The feature race would see Steve once again start in 4th position. On the start Steve passed the 2nd and 3rd place cars before they even got to turn 1 and got along the outside of the leader. They came off of turn 2 and Steve gave the leader some room as they came down the backstretch. The field got 3 or possibly 4 wide and someone slid up in to Steve spinning him around and sending him backwards down the track. Oncoming traffic managed to miss him for the most part and Steve was able to slide the car around and kept going.
The caution flag was not thrown and Steve now found himself in last place with a banged up car. The car was not handling right after the spin and contact from the other cars and Steve hit the wall coming off of turn 4 with a few laps to go. This really messed up the handling of the car but Steve drove it hard and managed to battle back for a 5th place finish.
Steve’s determination and the fact that he never gave up led to a good finish. The car is a little scraped up and something is bent in the right front suspension. We will fix it up and get it ready for the next race on 8-25 when Rob Faiella gets back behind the wheel.
So in the 2 races the team has run (not counting the one where the throttle cable broke before the race started), both have had adversity and both times the drivers had soldiered on and earned top 5 finishes.
